Healdsburg Jazz is thrilled to present the Legacy of Wayne Shorter concert featuring renowned artists Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Brian Blade, and special guest Mark Turner. The evening begins with an educational talk at 5:30 p.m., leading into a celebration of Wayne Shorter’s extraordinary influence on jazz.

Shorter, a saxophone icon, had an illustrious career spanning over fifty years, particularly known for his groundbreaking quartet with Perez, Patitucci, and Blade. Together, they redefined jazz with innovative performances and genre-blending creativity. This talented trio continues to embody Shorter’s fearless spirit.

Experience the captivating artistry of Gabriel Bianco, one of the world’s leading classical guitarists. Born in Paris and starting his musical journey at age 5, Bianco has performed in over fifty countries and renowned venues across the globe. A winner of numerous international competitions, he delivers performances with unmatched passion and precision.

Beyond his solo career, Gabriel has been a member of the chamber ensemble Quatuor Eclisses since its founding in 2012, and he recently released an album with mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti.

Ghostly Labor is a multidisciplinary performance that delves into the history of labor in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands and celebrates the power of collective resistance. Combining tap dance, Mexican zapateado, Afro-Caribbean movement, live music, and animated archival footage, this dynamic production features an all-female dance company. With spoken word, traditional son jarocho music from Veracruz, and an Afro-Latinx percussive score, the show brings to life significant historical events, including the 1917 Bath Riots and the struggles of California’s farm and domestic workers.
