It’s December in Sonoma wine country, and the holiday celebration is in full swing. With the mild winter climate and summer crowds tapering off, it’s the perfect time to launch a wine country getaway. The progressive three course dinner is back! Plan the perfect three course holiday dinner and then walk it off in the festive streets of Healdsburg. Sponsored by the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce, a total of 20 restaurants will be showcasing a variety of different food selections. All restaurants are located within walking distance or a short drive from Healdsburg’s Historic Plaza. The concept is simple: Pick a date and start time. Then choose the three restaurants you’d like to experience.And don’t wait! Dine Around reservations are filling up quickly!

Holiday time means time for celebration at Mission San Francisco Solano on the Plaza in downtown Sonoma. The barracks are lit with holiday lights, caroling and hot chocolate abound. This family friendly event in downtown Sonoma is a great stop with for the kids, perhaps there will be a Santa siting? A suggested donation of $2.50 helps support interpretation and preservation of Sonoma State Historic Park.

Take a trip back in time under the big top with a throwback to French circus in the style of the 1920’s with Cirque De Boheme’s presentation of “Somewhere”. Cornerstone Sonoma hosts this unique event featuring intriguing old word performances such as unicycle, slack rope, mime, aerialists, and other acts utilized to fascinate and tell the story of the “Bohemian in Paris”. Partial proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance.

Insider Tip: Cornerstone Sonoma also hosts a variety of shops, wine tasting rooms, and restaurants. Pop in to Meadowcroft Wines Lavender lounge to taste the 2014 Syrah, then head to Park 21 Café and try Joe’s Sweet Corn Ravioli.

Petaluma’s riverside location once again provides a unique setting as a flotilla of decorated boats streams into the Petaluma River Turning Basin in celebration of the holiday season. Bring your camera as the thousands of lights reflecting off the water makes the Lighted Boat Parade a favorite event for photographers. The flotilla remains on view all evening in the Historic Downtown harbor behind the Great Petaluma Mill at 6 Petaluma Blvd. No. and “B” Street.
