Sonoma County’s July calendar has a full schedule of can’t miss wine events. From 4th of July wine celebrations to BBQ competitions in the park, you’re sure to find some summer fun in Sonoma this month.
First Friday at Fog Crest Vineyard – Sebastopol
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.; food and wine available for purchase; reservations recommended
Featuring food from The Green Grocer, Fog Crest Vineyard celebrates First Friday with wine available by the glass and bottle.
Dutton-Goldfield Independence Weekend Celebration – Reds, Whites & Blues – Sebastopol
10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; $15 or free with wine purchase, $40 Pinot & Picnic tasting; reservations recommended
Celebrate the 4th of July weekend with blues music and wine at Dutton-Goldfield Winery as they bring out bright whites and barbeque ready reds. Schedule a Pinot & Picnic tasting flight on the patio.
Kenwood Hometown 4th of July Parade & Family Fun – Kenwood
10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; free parade, food available for purchase
Watch a small town 4th of July parade at Kenwood Plaza Park, or join the parade yourself: entries of animals, classic vehicles, bicycles and more are accepted for free. There will be music, BBQ, and wine in the park following the parade.
4th of July BBQ & Party at General’s Daughter Sponsored by Veuve Clicquot- Sonoma
7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.; $65
Fresh bites of BBQ oysters, caprese salad, strawberry shortcake, homemade cookies, and wine are on tap at this 4th of July celebration. Stick around to dance and listen to until about 10 p.m. when the fireworks go off!
Stars Under the Stars Summer Film Festival – Santa Rosa

Watch a classic movie under the stars on the lawn of St. Francis Winery & Vineyards. Starting at 7 p.m. with a pre-show concert and wine reception, Sleepless in Seattle will begin at dusk.
Wine Country Big Q – Rohnert Park
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.; $20 – $45
This nationally sanctioned BBQ competition attracts some of the best pitmasters in the country. Enjoy BBQ, wines, and beer while listening to music at this fun annual event.
4th Annual Bacigalupi Vineyard Designate Tasting – Healdsburg
4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.; $100
Sample featured wines produced from Bacigalupi Vineyards at this wine tasting event. Participating wineries include Gary Farrell, Kobler Family, Williams Seylem, and more. Food pairings and locally prepared cuisine are available, and all proceeds benefit The Guardsmen.
Cooking with K-J, Grilling on the Big Green Egg – Fulton
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; General Public $120 per person, Wine Club Members $100 per person
Take a class in cooking from Kendall Jackson’s culinary team and gardener at this event. You’ll collect food for the meal in the estate gardens, then prepare it on the Green Egg ceramic grill and share your meal among friends. An assortment of Kendall Jackson Estate Collection wines will be available as well.
Lobster and Chardonnay Dinner – Geyserville
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; $135
The Sbragia family hosts this annual celebration of Chardonnay and lobster. The event features beautiful views from the terrace, live music, the best Chardonnays in California, and of course, expertly prepared lobster.
West Wines Library Wine & Gourmet Cheese Tasting – Healdsburg
11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; $15, waived with any library wine purchase
Try a vertical tasting of West Wines’ Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from 2007 to 2004 at this event. The 2005 Cabernet served at the Nobel Banquet is included in this tasting, and the wines are paired with gourmet cheeses.
Day of Wine and Wags – Sonoma
12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.; $30
Sip wine and shop the silent auction benefiting Paws for Love at this summer wine event for dog lovers. The event is animal friendly and attendees are encouraged to bring their dogs along to create paw print art.
