Sonoma Bach invites audiences to immerse themselves in the works of Heinrich Schütz, the “Orpheus of the 17th century,” in an upcoming all-Schütz concert featuring Circa 1600, the Barefoot All-Stars, and acclaimed organist and harpsichordist Yuko Tanaka. This program, Sonoma Bach’s first entirely dedicated to Schütz, will showcase a selection of his sacred works, including pieces from Cantiones Sacrae, Geistliche Chormusik, and Psalms of David. Additionally, listeners will experience Schütz’s First Book of Madrigals, illustrating his mastery of early 17th-century part-songs.

A Bachgrounder preconcert lecture will be held 35 minutes prior to each performance, offering attendees insights into the music and legacy of this celebrated composer.
