New to birding or just curious to try it out? Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is pleased to support your birdwatching journey by hosting Learn to Identify Birds by Sound with Teresa and Miles Tuffli who have been helping bird-curious beginners venture out to appreciate the bird world!

Armstrong Redwoods hosts a variety of birds — some species we may have the opportunity to hear are: Acorn Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, Western Flycatcher, Pygmy Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, Pacific Wren, Hermit Thrush, Dark-eyed Junco, Wilson’s Warbler, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Band-tailed Pigeon, Common Raven and more.

Early mornings are the best time to hear birds! You will learn tips and techniques on where, when, and how to look for birds by stopping to study birds along the walk… and listening. This event takes place on easy, flat ground and mild inclines, which will include slow walking and observations. Bring binoculars if you have them (a limited number will be available for participants), pen/paper and phone/camera.

Cost: $25 per person (general public), but Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods members take 20% off, and receive the discounted price of $20. Become a member.
